Association of African Podcasters and Voice Artists (APVA) Announces Inaugural Podcast Production Program Winners

The Association of African Podcasters and Voice Artists (APVA) is excited to announce the winners of its inaugural podcast production program. With the support of its partners, APVA is set to provide three months’ worth of podcast production services to African audio creatives.

The program is designed to provide free series production for up to five episodes to three lucky African podcasters to support the growth and development of the podcasting industry in Africa. Surprisingly, APVA made room for one more winner, the chosen candidates are from Kenya, South Africa, and Nigeria, respectively.

Our first winner from Kenya, Kimani Maina of the “A Taste of Africa” podcast, will be producing a podcast series called “Folk Africa” which explores the rich and diverse culture of African Indigenous Music, also known as folk songs, and the role they play in preserving the true spirit of African music. 

Our second winner from South Africa is [Name] of the Anne Chisa Podcast, who will be producing a podcast series covering African Scientists, which explores the world of science through the eyes and voices of African scientists from around the globe; this show aims to shift the narrative of what scientists look like and provide visible role models for the young generation, while also educating the public on exciting scientific topics done by Africans. 

Our third winner from Nigeria, Hiqmat Ahuoyiza of the “Sweet and Sour Podcast”, who will be producing a podcast series called “Med School Realities,” which explores the journey of becoming a doctor in Nigeria through the eyes of Medical students from the University of Abuja, Nigeria. From the mental breakdowns to the joy of passing, this series will give you an inside look at the realities of medical school and help prepare future aspiring doctors.

Our fourth winner from Kenya is Awino Awiti of the Unspoken Podcast, who will be producing a podcast series called “Unspoken,” which explores the rich and diverse culture of African Indigenous Music, also known as folk songs, and the role they play in preserving the true spirit of African music.
